Why Divorce Happens

When a couple makes the lifelong commitment of marriage, the intention is usually just that- a joint union that will last the rest of their lives. In wedding ceremonies we often here, “What God has brought together, let no one separate.” But with nearly 50% of marriages ending in divorce, the reality is that not every marriage is going to stand the test of time. Until you have contemplated or gone through a divorce, you can’t fully fathom the sorrow, defeat, hopelessness, anger, and a multitude of other feelings that come with it. There is a deep grieving process that takes place. However, you don’t need to stay there. There is a God who loves you and his desire for you is a healed heart and an abundant life with Him.

Life After Divorce

The road you are about to embark upon will have bumps and turns along the way. But the further you go on your journey, as you reflect on where you have been, how you reached this place, and the direction you are heading, you don’t have to travel it alone. The Lord wants to walk this road with you, guiding and directing you, offering you comfort, peace, and healing along the way. Call on His name and reach out and take His hand. Invite Him to lead you.

The Journey To Healing After Divorce

When we are going through a divorce, sometimes the tendency is to retreat into a solitary place and sit in loneliness. But it is important to know that you don’t need to go through this alone. The Bible instructs us to encourage each other and bear one another’s burdens. There are others who have gone through what you are going through. They understand and will be there to support you and help you as you grieve and move forward onto a path of healing. Seek support and encouragement. Form a trusted circle of people who will prayerfully walk through the difficult times with you, bearing your burdens while listening to you, strengthening you, and lifting and building you up. Then, as you begin to heal and move forward, embrace the hope and peace that is waiting for you.
